Domestic Violence Support in Mumbai: Online & In-Person Counselling
A relationship can look very different from the inside than it does from the outside.
You may find yourself carefully choosing what to say, changing your behaviour to avoid an argument, or feeling anxious about how your partner might react. You may even be questioning whether what is happening to you is really abuse.
Domestic violence is not limited to physical violence. It can also involve threats, intimidation, humiliation, sexual coercion, financial control or behaviour intended to isolate and control another person.
If something in your relationship is making you feel unsafe, afraid, controlled or diminished, it is worth taking those feelings seriously.
What Is Domestic Violence?
Domestic violence refers to harmful or abusive behaviour within an intimate or family relationship. It can include physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, and financial abuse, as well as controlling behaviour.
Abuse does not always leave visible injuries. Someone can experience domestic abuse through threats, intimidation, humiliation, isolation or control even when there has been no physical violence.
Domestic violence can affect people of different genders, ages, backgrounds and circumstances.
