At Kare Counselling, we recognize that healing within families and relationships doesn’t always begin in the same room, and that’s not only okay, it’s often necessary. In many South Asian households, emotional expression is layered, generational dynamics are complex, and individuals may not feel safe or ready to open up in front of others, even loved ones.

That’s why we’ve developed a collaborative yet confidential two-therapist model designed to meet people where they are, especially within the context of family or couples therapy.

Instead of requiring everyone to attend joint sessions, we assign each individual their own dedicated therapist. These therapists work closely together behind the scenes, with full respect for ethical boundaries and individual confidentiality, to create a more complete, nuanced understanding of the family or relational system. This allows for individualized support without losing sight of the bigger picture.

Whether it’s a couple who prefer to focus on their individual growth before (or instead of) joint sessions, siblings or twins navigating deep-rooted conflict but needing separate therapeutic spaces, or a child in individual therapy while their parents are in couples counselling, our approach is designed to adapt to each unique situation.

Our model is flexible, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed. It’s especially designed to support South Asian families, where emotional privacy, generational expectations, and personal readiness play a crucial role in how therapy is received.

We don’t believe in forcing difficult conversations before people are ready. Instead, we offer a pathway where every voice is heard, even if it’s not in the same room.

How do I schedule a therapy session?

Once you get in touch, we will guide you through the next steps including choosing a therapist that is best suited to your needs and scheduling your session.

How long is a typical therapy session?

A typical individual therapy session runs for approximately 45 minutes. Joint couples therapy sessions are typically 1 hour long.

How often do I have to see my therapist?

Therapy is a gradual and collaborative process. The frequency and number of sessions vary depending on your concerns, goals, and the therapeutic approach being used. Your therapist will work closely with you to decide what feels most supportive and sustainable.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything shared during introductory calls, intake sessions, and therapy sessions is kept confidential. Exceptions apply only in situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, or where disclosure is required by law.

What if I’m late for my therapy session?

Please inform your therapist if you are running late for a session. A grace period of 15 minutes applies for all sessions. However, if you are unable to join within this time, the session will be considered a no-show and charged in full. 

What is the cancellation policy?

Please inform us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations or missed sessions within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment will be charged at the full session fee. 

How do I pay for a session?

Payments can be made via bank transfer, cash, or Google Pay/Venmo/Zelle.

What should I do if I or someone else is experiencing suicidal thoughts?

If you or someone else is experiencing a mental health emergency, feels unsafe, or may be at immediate risk of harming themselves or others, please contact your local emergency services, visit the nearest hospital, or reach out to a crisis helpline immediately.
